There are several grilling methods and techniques you can use and there are also numerous grilling heat sources. Grilling techniques will depend on the food you want to grill, which includes poultry, steaks, seafood, fish and vegetables. The key to an effective grilling is to customize the techniques and the use of equipment to suit the food in order to get the results you desire.

Some basic grilling techniques and methods include the following:

1. Direct heat grilling which is the most common method. This can be done over gas, wood, charcoal and other heat source. The heat is usually high and perfect for searing.

2. Indirect grilling is a techni7uqe where food is cooked with indirect or reflected heat. It includes not placing food over the direct source of heat and keeping the lid covered. In case the food has to be placed over the heat source, the temperature should be turned low for it to cook indirectly.

3. Smoking is another grilling method with a more specialized approach to it. This method can only be done outdoors using gas or charcoal grills. This includes cooking food in a closed chamber or at a low temperature and for a long time.

4. Indoor grilling is done indoors without coals and using only gas or electric heat. This is perfect during inclement outdoor weather.

5. Rotisserie grilling is one technique that is getting popular fast. This kind of grilling is also known as spit roasting. Food is placed in a chamber with a rotating skewer or motorized turn spit. Infrared burners or special ceramic are used to produce indirect heat for cooking.
