Summer means grilling time! With sunshine, you can enjoy more outdoor activities with the whole family on the daytime and enjoy a nighttime barbecue in your yard with family and friends. To make summer nights more exciting, you can try an outdoor grilling recipe or two.

Burgers are the ultimate food during summer. You can cook them over gas or charcoal grill. One of the best outdoor grilling burger recipes is the All American Burgers. For ingredients, you will need 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, 1 lb. ground beef, 2 tsp. water, ½ tsp. onion powder, ½ tsp. seasoned salt, 1/8 tsp. pepper and 4 sandwich buns. Prepare and heat the grill and combine all ingredients except the sandwich buns in a big bowl and gently mix. Shape the mixture into four patties. Cook about 10-15 minutes until burgers are no longer pink in the center. Toast the sandwich buns on the grill before serving. Serve with the traditional fixings such as ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles or American cheese.

Another great outdoor grilling recipe is the Grilled Chicken with Cherry Sauce. You will need 5 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, ½ cup cherry jam or currant jelly, ½ cup orange juice, 1 cup chicken broth, 2 tsp. fresh thyme leaves, 2 tbsp. cornstarch, 1 ½ cups fresh pitted cherries chopped, 8 boneless and skinless chicken breasts, 1/8 tsp. white pepper and ½ tsp. salt. Preheat the grill and mix orange juice, vinegar, jelly, thyme leaves and ¾ cup broth in a saucepan. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until mixture combines while stirring often. Remove 1/3 cup of the mixture for glaze and set aside.

Stir the cherries into the remaining mixture in a saucepan, combine remaining ¼-cup broth and cornstarch, stir into saucepan and bring to a simmer for 3 minutes then remove from heat. Next step is sprinkle chicken with pepper and salt, grill chicken on medium coals for about 11 to 15 minutes while brushing chicken with the reserved sauce for glaze. Turn once until chicken is cooked and then serve with cherry sauce.
