Summer is in the air and along it comes the time for outdoor grilling. Nothing beats an open flame to feed a crowd fast. When the heat is on, lessen the time you spend on your kitchen by making the whole meal directly over the fire. Outdoor grilling has become a favorite of many households throughout the world.

Outdoor grilling is perfect for get-togethers and parties on hot summer nights. Here is a delicious outdoor grilling recipe that will surely make your gathering a success! The recipe is the Housing-Glazed Chicken with Plums and Green Onions. This outdoor grilling recipe is spicy, sweet and simply irresistible. Ingredients include 1 tablespoons grated and peeled fresh ginger, ¼ cup of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon Asian sesame oil, ¼ teaspoon ground red pepper, 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder, 4 plums, 2 bunches of green onion, 1 4-pound chicken cut into 8 pieces, 1 tablespoon olive oil, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce, 1/3 cup housing sauce, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper coarsely ground and 1 teaspoon sesame seeds.

In a big bowl, stir sesame oil, vinegar, five-spice powder, ginger and ground red pepper. Add the chicken to the spice mixture, toss until coated evenly. Marinate for 15 minutes at room temperature and turn occasionally. Prepare you outdoor grill for covered direct grilling on medium heat. Cut the plums in half, brush green onions with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and coarsely ground black pepper. Mix soy sauce and hoisin sauce in a small bowl. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place on the hot grill and discard the marinade. Cover the grill and cook the chicken from 20 to 25 minutes or until the juice runs clear. Reserve ¼ cup of hoisin mixture for serving. Brush the chicken with the remaining mixture for the last minute of cooking, transfer the chicken to a platter, cover, and keep warm.

Place green onions and plums on the hot grill grate. Cook the onions for 3 to 5 minutes or until lightly tender and charred and chook plums from six to 8 minutes or until softened. Transfer them to a platter with the chicken. In serving, sprinkle chicken with sesame seeds and pass a bowl with the reserved hoisin mixture.
